Det finska, mångsidiga och melodiska modern metal-bandet Blackment släpper sitt andra studioalbum ”Pandemonium Portrait” den 18 september. Nu har de släppt den sista singeln, ”Pulsar”, från det kommande albumet.
“I remember my first rehearsals, and I knew I was really looking forward to performing the vocal parts I’d just recorded. My mind was racing with ideas about how Muse, RATM, and Diablo could be combined in a fun way with my own style for that particular song. I noticed that performing this gave me a kind of energy boost, and it still manages to surprise me during rehearsals. Somehow, I always pause and become aware of the present moment. Nothing is certain.” tells the singer Sami Vuorenheimo.
“Allan gave me a song to write lyrics for, and I listened to it on repeat with my eyes closed. I thought about what images and thoughts it evoked in me, keeping the theme in mind. Pulsar was born out of a minor existential crisis.”
‘Pulsar’ takes the listener on a journey through the mysteries of the universe and illustrates the endless possibilities as well as the things the human mind cannot comprehend. Inspired by Sigmund Freud, I came up with the idea for a story in which the protagonist moves forward like a ship heading toward a lighthouse, toward the light of the pulsar. The idea that death could be a goal for humans fascinated me at the time. This evolved into a magnificent story about life and its continuation (or renewal) into the next phase.” Sami continues.
Blackment är ett melodiskt metalband som bildades 2014 i Hyvinkää, Finland. Deras debutalbum ”Plains of Oblivion” släpptes hösten 2022. Albumet har spelats på radio i flera europeiska länder. Dessutom nominerades bandet till titeln ”Årets nykomling 2022” av Kaaoszine (en finsk nyhetssajt för musik). Under 2023–2024 släppte Blackment tre singlar: ”Pariah”, ”Ghost in the Machine” och ”Freedom Fall”. Bandet deltog även som semifinalist i tävlingen Wacken Metal Battle Finland.
Genom åren har Blackment utvecklat ett igenkännligt sound och en egen stil med medryckande melodier, komplexa men kraftfulla gitarrer, svängiga trummor och bas, stämningsfulla syntar och ett brett sångregister med en unik röst. Det sexmannabandet har hyllats för sina energiska liveframträdanden och har bland annat uppträtt på Heavy Metal Heart Festival och på klubben Semifinal i Helsingfors.
